"Gentle" gay autistic man stabbed to death in Australia
Giving a couple of articles because the information is unusually different in each one, and I don't feel up to sorting out which is best... I'm including a specific Google News search link his name.

"Gerard Fleming was a gentle man who died a violent death. The 35-year-old was stabbed at least twice in the upper body and then left for dead in Narrabeen, on the Northern Beaches, about 11.30pm on Saturday [June 16]."

Nothing wrong with being gay: that's not a character attack!
Nobody was suggesting he wasn't a friendly guy, or a great man, nor was that an attack on his character. If he wasn't gay, that's cool, but there's also nothing wrong with not being straight.

The *last* thing I'd ever do is use "gay" as a slur, or slam a guy for having traits normally seen as being feminine. My best friend of 11 years, who is like a brother to me, is a gay autie; my father and my ex-partner are both feminine straight auties. Most of my friends (most of whom I think are amazing people) are either gay, lesbian, bi, or straight but have a lot of opposite-gender traits.

As far as "sexual advances" are concerned... The articles mentioned that he was in a place where gay guys were looking for a partners or a quick fling; being asked for a date or for sex there isn't being victimized, it's expected. It can be awkward if the person's sexual orientation doesn't match (I'm asexual, so it never matches :) but it's not comparable to harassment or a crime, unless the flirt keeps doing it repeatedly despite being asked not to. If the flirt becomes abusive, *then* it's being the victim of something else entirely.

The reason I wrote that he was gay was because some of the many places I read, including a couple of GLBT sites, did claimed he was. You'd need to track them down, though; I don't remember the specifics well anymore. :-p
